Fabric Flowers

A very easy and effective method of creating fabric flowers.
Take one strip of material (about 3 cm wide and 1 metre long).  Fold in half and iron to get a neat edge.
Tie a knot in one end and then start twisting around.

Wooden Dining Chair

In our garage under the house were these old wooden dining table chairs.  For our spare room I wanted some colour to ‘jazz’ up the room and going with the shabby chic look I sanded it down and repainted it ‘Lake Tekapo’ from Guthrie Bowron.  I then created stripes with masking tape for the chair back.

I plan to stack guest towels on it (as per the photo) and sit it next to the dresser.  I haven’t painted the room yet but will put some pictures up when it’s all finished.

Dresser

This dresser was owned by a friend and has been living in our woolshed for a number of years.  Recently she came around and had a sort up and since she’s moved to Australia said I could have it !!

Living in the country and in an old house we decided to stick to ‘shabby chic’ rather than modern.  I removed the mirror & sanded this dresser back which was a pale creamy yellow and repainted with a white undercoat and a top coat colour (semi gloss) called half detail white from Colour Plus.  Once dry I sanded back the corners of the drawers & drawer slots to create a semi distressed look.

About Me ...

I am creating a blog about decorating our home on a budget!

I’ve decided there are a lot of interesting projects I can undertake just in the bits and pieces lying around our farm sheds that would otherwise go to the dump.  After looking at the website www.pinterest.com I’ve been inspired to make the most of what I have available and ‘get creating.’  Take a look at my posts and see what I have done in the last few days…
